New Office of Clinical Studies Website

The newly redesigned Office of Clinical Studies website launched this week. The website provides information for students, faculty, staff, and clinical educators about the early field experiences, methods field experiences, and student teaching. Many forms are available on the website, including forms related to the criminal background check, dispositions, and student teaching. Please feel free to send edits and comments on the website to Kim Cavallio at cavallio@udel.edu.

Meet Christine Gorowara

Christine Gorowara, Delaware Center for Teacher Education.Christine is the new DCTE Senior Associate Director who is serving as the UD accreditation coordinator and teacher certification officer. She is excited to be back at the University of Delaware where she had been affiliated with the School of Education mathematics education program. For the past ten years, Christine worked for the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).  She led site visits for over 80 educator preparation programs and helped develop and implement the new CAEP standards during this time. Christine is looking forward to sharing her expertise in program assessment with professional education faculty and staff.

DDOE Aspiring Educator Survey

The Delaware Department of Education administered the first Aspiring Educator Survey in spring of 2015. The survey collected data on the professional plans and preferences of recent graduates of educator preparation programs that have a history of preparing Delaware educators. The 2015 Aspiring Educator Survey Report – University of Delaware provides information specific to UD respondents, showing programs the factors that influence their candidates’ employment decisions. For results of the overall survey, please see The December 2015 Set: Where do Aspiring Educators Want to Work and Live?

Do2Learn Makerspace & New Workstations

The Do2Learn Makerspace in the Education Resource Center is an area where students, faculty, and staff create, educate, help, design, and learn about educational projects such as programming and 3-D printing using the new Lulzbot Mini. Come in to play with Finch, a new robot that will introduce you to programming with fun activities, and make Squishy Circuits from conductive dough.  We also have a selection of programming games, a sewing machine and building planks.  For more information, please check our website.

In addition to the Do2Learn Makerspace, the student workstations were replaced with 6 new iMacs and 6 new Dell PCs each with 16 GB memory and Windows 10 on the Dells. All workstations have SMART Notebook and Inspiration software. Camtasia, SPSS, and NVIVO are also installed on select computers.

Project Search Education Career Fair (PreK-12)

April 20th at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center

Project Search provides an informative and diverse forum for educational organizations and qualified education candidates to interact; the fair is sponsored by the University of Delaware Career Services Center and the University Council on Teacher Education (UCTE). This event brings recruiters to campus to meet and interview prospective teachers, counselors, administrators and specialists for vacancies in the upcoming school year.
