Project Search By the Numbers
Project Search was a success again thanks to Cindy Holland in the Career Services Center! The event ran smoothly on April 20 with:
- 105 organizations
- 282 recruiters
- 407 teacher candidates
- 3,546 interviews
- 11 states represented (plus 7 organizations representing multiple states)
The numbers of organizations, recruiters, and states represented were the highest or second highest numbers in the past five years. However, the number of teacher candidates decreased by 25% and the number of interviews decreased by 24% compared with last year, reflecting the decline in the enrollment in the teacher preparation programs. The recruiters shared that the decrease in the number of teacher candidates is a trend at the majority of recruiting events. They also talked highly about the quality of the teacher candidates and offered some of them teaching contracts.
New Video Conferencing Device at the ERC
Do you need an easy way to connect remotely face-to-face with students or colleagues? The Kubi Telepresence Robot and iPad Air may be your answer. The Kubi makes video conferencing more engaging by giving remote participants, who connect to the Kubi through a web browser, the power to look around and interact during video calls. The Kubi enables faculty to include students in their classes remotely, collaborate with colleagues who are off-campus, and interview candidates for graduate school and faculty positions. For example, a student could connect through his/her web browser to the Kubi giving him/her the ability to pan the classroom and easily interact with the instructor and other students in real-time. The Kubi and companion iPad Air will be available to professional education faculty and staff only.
